Cosette Deza

Dancing since the age of four, Cosette has always been on the move. This background helped her develop body awareness and appreciation for creative expression. Thus, she was easily drawn to the physical asanas of yoga, especially Vinyasa flow. Cosette had taken a few classes at a gym and for a semester in college, however it wasn’t until early 2012 when she began practicing consistently at Purple Yoga that she found the satisfaction of breath and stillness that yoga also provides in a modern, nonstop life. It is through yoga that Cosette has deeply acknowledged the mind-body connection's healing qualities. She is grateful to have found a practice that can be equally challenging, graceful, and humbling. In October of 2013, she completed her 200-hour teacher training with Purple Yoga. Cosette hopes that people recognize their potential, but more importantly embrace themselves exactly as they are. She looks forward to continuing her training –learning from her fellow instructors, students, and from within.

Cosette Deza instructs the following:
  • Yin Yoga
  • This quiet, meditative practice encourages mindful non-judgmental awareness of the present moment by holding long passive stretches (3-10 minutes). Through deep relaxation, we release deeply held tension targeting the hips, pelvis and lower back working safely into the connective tissues and ligaments making them stronger and more pliant. Yin yoga increases the body’s energy distribution by cleansing the energy channels that run through the body’s connective tissue, creating an effect similar to that of acupuncture.

  • Vinyasa Flow Level 1-2
  • A moderately challenging flow of dynamic movement linked with breath. This class focuses on the fundamentals of basic to intermediate poses with an emphasis on safe alignment, mindful breathing, and assists in the gradual development of greater flexibility, strength and balance. Open to beginners as well as experienced students.
