What are the benefits of Yoga?
Although you may have come to yoga to increase your flexibility, don’t be surprised to find that you are also sleeping more deeply then you have been in a while, or able to concentrate more easily at work. Once you begin to practice yoga regularly you are likely to notice many of the following common changes: happier mood, decreased back pain, enhanced athletic ability, better focus at work more energy, improved sleep, a calmer quieter mind, weight loss, balanced mood.
What if I am not flexible?
Unless you are ballet dancer or gymnast, it’s very normal if you feel tight, so don’t worry if touching your toes seems impossible. The good news is that with regular practice, yoga is extremely effective at improving flexibility.
I already work out at the gym, why would I need yoga too?
Although many forms of exercise provide a wonderful physical workout, only yoga can also claim to be a therapeutic system that helps heal injuries, improve chronic illness, and balance mental stress.
Isn’t yoga only for women?
While it’s true that certain things (like pink lip gloss) are just for the ladies, yoga is not one of them. Historically, some of the greatest yoga teachers for over 2000 years have been men.
Isn’t yoga slow and boring?
Some styles of yoga are slow paced, but Power Yoga is a Vinyasa Flow style yoga which offers a faster, dynamic pace and endless exciting challenges.
Is yoga a religion?
Yoga is not a religion, it’s a technique of physical movements leading to improved health. If yoga has a belief system, it’s simply to become more connected to your body.
